Black Beyond

For years I have been a lighthouse
A singular, lonely beacon
Calling to the waves
To bring you to my shore
Safely

The stones have been polished
Marble reminders of time
Washing over me
Leaving my beach smooth and untouched
Shadows of the past
Cascading across the sand
And stone

I am memory
Alone
Eternity waiting
For the present to bring me
Something
To shine my light on

Nothing is more powerful
Than the union of stars
The alignment of heaven reflected in my eyes
As I gaze upon your light

The safety of my shore will be your resting place
Collect my stones to become one
To see beyond the distracting sparkle
Of my excitement

A ritual
Of divine expression
A promise of longing
A dream I have made manifest
My light
For you

You are the ghost ship
That has haunted me
From the cold depths
Of long forgotten sands

Just beyond the crashing waves
That obscure the hope for more
Just underneath the smashing waves
That blind the world with violence

It’s easy to forget
That there is more beyond the dark surface
Of constant motion and distraction

It’s so easy to forget
That there is light
Beyond the darkness
Beyond the raging surface
Of noise
